Faeries and toadstools

Since I had made a princess cake for my daughter’s class party, I decided to go with a fairy theme for her school friends birthday party.

I made a 1.5-2ft. toadstool with a fairy sitting atop. I once again enlisted my sister-in-law’s help with the fairy. She is quite the fondant expert! She made the wings, the clothing, wand, and legs for the fairy.

For the toadstool, I used three to four 6″x3″ cake rounds for the stem and a baked the rounded mushroom top using a large pyrex mixing bowl. This was the first time I’ve ever cooked in a pyrex mixing bowl and was happy it turned out okay without getting burned!
